"Katie is a knowledgeable and sensitive practitioner who puts you completely at ease."

CAROLINE F.

Katie Scampton

I’m Katie, an Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine Practitioner and Teacher dedicated to helping people experience optimal health and wellbeing.

I currently practice in London and Virginia Water, and treat clients with a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain, respiratory issues, digestive and skin issues, and musculo-skeletal problems. I have a keen interest in reproductive health, and I specialise in supporting male and female infertility, pregnancy, and pre/postnatal conditions. For me, there is no greater satisfaction than that of seeing my client holding a longed-for baby.

My experience

I qualified in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine at the London School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine twenty one years ago, and have continued to practice, teach and study since then.

It’s impossible to be too qualified or too experienced in this field, so as well as practising full time, I regularly attend courses to update my skills and knowledge. Recent classes have focused on infertility, male infertility, obstetrics, Japanese paediatric acupuncture, pregnancy and childbirth, as well as courses in Master Tung acupuncture, Meridian wave acupuncture and Ontake (the use of moxibustion for postural rebalance and pain relief).

In 2014 I completed the intensive post-graduate diploma course in gynaecology, reproductive medicine and obstetrics under Dr Trevor Wing, who specialises in women’s natural health, and am listed as an Associate Practitioner. I have observed in several Chinese hospitals in Hangzhou, and, as a member of the EAST Medicine research group, was funded by the Department of Health to research Chinese Medicine treatments for menopausal symptoms.

I was a senior lecturer and clinical supervisor of students of acupuncture and Chinese medicine at The University of Westminster from 1999 to 2018, and remain a visiting lecturer and clinical supervisor in the university's polyclinic. I am a registered member of the British Acupuncture Council and Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine.

These days, my path into Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine seems more like destiny than a spontaneous diversion from Art School. My mother, grandparents and great-grandparents all lived in China, and I grew up surrounded by beautiful Chinese art, furniture and calligraphy. The moment I saw my first intriguing diagram of needle points and meridian lines, I was fascinated, and it sparked a lifelong passion for these ancient practices.

I offer acupuncture, Tuina (Chinese massage) and dietary advice from the perspective of Chinese medicine. The true art and skill of this work is in knowing the best way to treat the whole patient, not just their presenting symptoms. Patient care is hugely important to me, so my clients can expect a soothing, calming experience at every session.

Patients must feel at ease with their practitioner, and confident in their choice. If you have any queries about acupuncture in general, my qualifications or experience, or your particular condition, please do get in touch. You may also find the FAQs page useful.
